A nice overview of the world of processes and managers in BigCo. So true and so sad. Another good reason to never ever again go work for a large organization.

More and more prized careers are becoming McDonaldised – more routine, less skilled, and with the workers subject to greater control from above."

It's called evolution, whether industrial like in the past or hi-tech as nowadays. Everything is done for a reason, so it's not as simple as placing all in one basket.
As far as "another good reason to never ever again go work for a large organization" goes...does that include a large organisation like Google, where an idea from one man and his laptop can be enjoyed by millions in one week? Large companies offer a lot that small compaines don't, so both have their pros and cons. You have to weigh both sides of the argument, then make an informed decision. Start-up mode is also good, but not everyone can afford the risk ;-)
